“My role at VIC is more than just a job—it’s a mission. Every day I’m driven by the opportunity to honor and protect the voices and needs of our aging population. To feed, to connect—this is the heart of our work, and it’s my privilege to lead it.”
Leticia Perez
My name is Leticia Perez, and I am honored to serve as the new director of VIC's
Bernardi Multipurpose Senior Center. I have been a part of this organization for over six
years, beginning my journey as a Homebound driver.
Eventually, I took on the role of Information and Assistance Coordinator at the Bernardi Multipurpose Senior Center. I am truly appreciative of the opportunities for growth that this organization has provided me. Before my time at the center, I served in the Army, where I sustained a shoulder injury during training.

Fortunately, I discovered VIC's Bernardi Multipurpose Senior Center, which allowed me
to channel my commitment to serving my country into a dedication to my community.
My time spent here with all of you has been immensely rewarding.
I look forward to building upon the work we have accomplished over the past six years.
My aspiration for the center is to further develop Bernardi Multipurpose Senior Center as
a vital community hub, offering resources and programs that foster growth and
development within our community.

Pat Austin
Patricia Austin is a human and civil rights activist, who completed her academic studies at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia and the University of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania. During her college years she and her fellow students were advocates for an end to racial segregation, and spear headed demonstrations throughout West Virginia for the right to sit at lunch counters, and to gain employment opportunities. Patricia spent 10 years working at the Job Corps Center for Women in Huntington, which provided her the opportunity to influence young women from low-income backgrounds to strive for greater achievements.

She soon decided to venture to the beautiful western part of the United States, where she found so many opportunities for growth and development that she only goes “back East” to visit her loving family.
For the past 20 years, Patricia has worked for the Valley InterCommunity Council in Los Angeles, where she directs a senior center with the strong commitment to keep improving the lives of seniors. The Center’s purpose it to provide crucial services, combat social isolation and promote the well-being of older adults.

Over time, Connie has become the Evidence Based Programs Director, a role in which she continues to guide program development, uphold fidelity standards, and strengthen partnerships throughout Los Angeles County. Her deep community ties—built over decades of service—have played a vital role in elevating the program’s reach, reputation, and overall success.
