Dedicated VIC Employee Wins Big at Raffle Event

Ruth Cruz has dedicated many hours to VIC-- first as an intern, then a volunteer, and now acting as the interim Case Manager for the Bernardi Multi-Purpose Senior Center. Ms. Cruz always believed that she was volunteering out of the kindness of her heart and never expected any sort or reward for the work she does. So it holds that "it was a BIG surprise" for her to win a 55" TV at the recent fundraiser that took place August 15, 2015 at the Alicia Broadous-Duncan Multi-Purpose Senior Center. The fundraiser aimed to publicize and garner donations in honor of Valley Interfaith Council's 50th Year of Serving the Community.

Cruz says that she identifies with the seniors she works with and she is happy to serve them each and every day. Ms. Cruz's faith in God has strengthened since her big win, as she says that "God did not forget me; I just didn't expect that he was going to pay me in this way." Ms. Cruz says "Thank You" to Valley Interfaith Council for providing excellent volunteer opportunities, to the Board and Jose de Sosa for hosting this event, and to God. Ms. Cruz and her two grandchildren will be enjoying their new TV in their home where they can watch movies together.
