Dear Friends, Partners and Members of the Community,

Our team at VIC-Valley InterCommunity Council wants to reach out to you. We hope this message finds your families healthy and safe. We know this is a time filled with uncertainty, and the staff and volunteers at VIC remain committed to doing the boots on the ground work needed to care for our most vulnerable population--seniors.

We want to update you on VIC's efforts to protect our seniors, those who are most at-risk for the COVID-19 virus. A total of 669,405 meals have been delivered to seniors since the crisis began. And the demand for meals is increasing.

Fortunately, VIC is part of a larger community offering solutions during this time of need. Many of you have assisted in the efforts to serve our most vulnerable, including our City of Los Angeles partners, state and federal representatives, organizations, community partners, volunteers, and our donors. Simply put, we could not have done it without you and we will need to rely on your support in the months to come.

Although VIC's senior centers in Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Northridge, Pacoima and 15 nutrition sites are closed for activities, our home-delivered meal programs continue. Phone numbers for our Senior Centers can be found here on our website.

We are all in this moment together. Each of us plays an important role in keeping one another safe. Especially now, every small act of kindness matters--whether that means reaching out to neighbors, connecting or reconnecting with family and friends, or donating to organizations that are providing essential services to those among us who are most vulnerable and in need.

On behalf of VIC-Valley InterCommunity Council, our Board and staff, thank you again for your support.

With kind regards,

Patrick Nichelson                    Beverly Ventriss

VIC-Valley InterCommunity Council provides nutritionally balanced meals to mature adults, families, and individuals throughout the San Fernando Valley through various nutrition programs.

There is truly something for everyone, from those unable to prepare meals due to a recent hospital visit to homebound individuals, to adults looking for a social dining atmosphere.

VIC-Valley InterCommunity Council also provides transportation services, case management, health and wellness activities, social and recreational events and a Meals on Wheels service.

As our world changes, we are called to new and creative ways to express our values in the world, to respond to the sign of the times, and to make our services and programs even more relevant.

For VIC, these values represent inclusiveness, justice and respect for diversity. We are in the process of exploring new ways to expand the care that we provide to seniors and caregivers in our Adult Centers; new ways to creatively build the capacity of our senior centers so that they are able to provide services and programs to a changing generation of seniors; and new ways in which we can continue to build bridges within our community to foster peace, harmony and unity in these challenging times.
