Seniors get chance to “Jump Start Your Day”

(CHATSWORTH, January 27, 2006)  Beginning February 7, 2006 seniors in the East Valley will have the opportunity to make new friends, do a little stretching and walking, and socialize over a nutritious breakfast every Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

This joint wellness program offered by VIC’s East Valley Multipurpose Senior Center and California State College Department of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science, is available to seniors (age 60 or better!) in the East Valley and located at VIC’s East Valley Multipurpose Senior Center, 11640 Hesby St. (dining center), Valley Village, CA  91601.

Participants must pre-register for the program.  To sign up, call Yolanda at 818-766-5165 between 8:00am – 4:00pm weekdays. Seniors will gather at the East Valley MPC at 7:45am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The walk begins promptly at 8:00am and participants will return to the center for breakfast at 8:30am.  Donations for breakfast will gratefully be accepted.

VIC, established in 1964, operates three multi-purpose senior centers, four adult day-support centers and Meals on Wheels and works with a coalition of 19 food pantries in the San Fernando Valley fighting hunger.  In 2004, VIC's services were extended to more than 70,000 people.  VIC also brings together persons and congregations of many different faiths, and secular organizations, in interfaith action to alleviate human and social needs in the Valley.  The membership of VIC is comprised of people from the business, service and religious communities in the Valley, and a network of diverse congregations.  For more information about VIC, go to www.vic-la.org.
