Interfaith Relations Committee

VIC's mission is based on bringing people of various faiths together to build effective relationships among them and with various secular groups.  Then they, together as VIC, can respond to the human and social needs of the San Fernando Valley with unique interfaith perspective.

The Interfaith Relations Committee (IRC) focuses precisely on bringing people together as persons of faith (or no faith) so they can understand and appreciate one another.  The Interfaith Relations Committee organizes several panels yearly to share perspectives on specific dimensions of faith-filled living.  It organizes open house tours of religious facilities and brings specific faith dimensions to bear on issues challenging residents of the Valley.  The Interfaith Relations Committee helps people of varied faiths find common ground while providing each participant with knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the distinctive ground on which others stand.  This is a major need of our era, in the Valley and in the world.

The Interfaith Relations Committee accomplishes effective relationships and understanding through:

  • Panel discussions which examine issues of faith as well as other topics of concern from various faith perspectives
  • In-home Interfaith Dialogues
  • Interfaith services such as the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Service and Gandhi Day Commemoration Service
  • Tours of Sacred Places
  • Interfaith Choir Concerts

TO GET INVOLVED:

The IRC typically meets monthly on the second Monday of the Month at noon at the Bahai Community Center in Encino.  All are welcome, call the VIC office for details.

Attend a Panel discussion held four times a year at various locations in the Valley.

Attend a Sacred Place Tour held twice a year at select locations.
