Family Self Sufficiency Program (FSS)

The Family Self Sufficiency Program helps Section 8 tenants get off welfare and achieve personal financial independence by meeting educational and career goals.  Those who successfully complete this 5-year program receive a cash bonus from the Housing Authority.  This bonus can then be used to purchase a home.  The objective of the FSS Program is to help low income families realize and achieve the American dream - home ownership.

Additional goods and services provided to FSS clients include emergency food and clothing, access to ride sharing, bus tokens, appliances, furniture, household items, and special donations to correct and meet unmet needs.

The transformation from dependency to independence is difficult, but we see our FSS clients achieving their objectives.  We are happy to be a part of these successes as we continue to provide the tools and motivation our clients require.
