Adult Day Support Centers

VIC's licensed Adult Day Support Centers (ADSC) provide non-medical, non-institutionally based services for meeting the physical, social and psychological needs of older persons with physical, emotional or mental impairments, and who require assistance and supervision.  The centers goals are to offer socialization and stimulation to the participants and respite to the caregivers.  The ADSC's are located at the Northeast Valley Senior Multipurpose Center and the Bernardi Multipurpose Senior Center, the Northwest valley ADSC located in Chatsworth and the Sunlight Senior Day Care located in North Hollywood.  Besides activities, participants enjoy a hot lunch and two snacks a day.

Individual counseling and support group services are available for the family and/or the participant.  Included in our ADSC is a bi-monthly caregivers support group.  This group offers caregivers and family members the opportunity to receive emotional support, deal with painful feelings and exchange practical information in a group facilitated by the Program Director.  Individual counseling is also available, if needed.  In addition, group members become aware of varied services of the ADSC which are available to them.

The ADSC is offered between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. with extended hours under certain conditions.  The activities include:  mild exercise, music appreciation, signing and dancing, short walks, arts and crafts, field trips and picnics, group discussions, bingo and other games and programs for holidays and special events.  In addition to the Program Director, the staff includes an Activity Coordinator and up to two Activity Service Aides.  Consultants are brought in for special presentations/activities.
